俄亥俄州立大学鲁小亿博士来我室交流访问

应顾华玺教授邀请,美国俄亥俄州立大学鲁小亿博士到我室交流访问,并于4月10日上午在新科技楼609会议室做了题为“Accelerating Big DataProcessing and Management on Modern HPC Clusters”的专题报告。

报告中,鲁小亿教授首先介绍了大数据分析和发展趋势,随着网络服务和生物科学等相关领域的高速发展,海量数据对人们的生活造成了极大的影响,使用高性能数据分析(HPDA)变得越来越受欢迎,这使得传统的大数据分析方法面临着一定的挑战。之后,鲁小亿博士讲解了RDMA技术目前的国际发展现状和RDMA技术对HPC技术造成的革命性发展,随后系统地介绍了其团队在基于RDMA技术的Hadoop,Spark,Storm,GraphLab等大数据分析处理方式方面的创新和研究进展、Benchmark的部署,以及性能的对比分析。

在提问互动环节中,鲁小亿博士与在场师生积极互动,耐心细致地解答了师生的相关疑惑。鲁小亿博士细致准确地讲解以及扎实深厚的学术功底给大家留下深刻印象,学生们也表示开拓视野,了解到很多关于HPC以及RDMA方面的知识,收获颇丰。

人物简介:

Dr. Xiaoyi Lu is a Research Scientist in the Department of ComputerScience and Engineering at the Ohio State University, USA. His current researchinterests include high-performance interconnects and protocols, Big Datatechnologies and ecosystems, Parallel Computing Models (MPI/PGAS),Virtualization and Cloud Computing. He has published over 80 papers inInternational journals, conferences, and book chapters related to theseresearch areas. He has been actively involved in various professionalactivities inacademic journals and conferences. Recently, Dr. Lu is leading theresearch and development of RDMA-based accelerations for Apache Hadoop, Spark,HBase, and Memcached, and OSU HiBD micro-benchmarks, which are publicly availablefrom the HiBD project website (http://hibd.cse.ohio-state.edu). These librariesare currently being used by more than 215 organizations from 29 countries. Morethan 21,100 downloads of these libraries have taken place from the projectsite. He is also leading the research and development of the MVAPICH2-Virt(high-performance and scalable MPI for hypervisor and container based HPCcloud) project.
